Our conventional education system has been overemphasizing on the potential of our left brain skills i.e. language skills, analysis skill, logic, capability to work sequentially, to the extent that it has completely outweighed humongous potential that lies untapped in the form of right brain functions. Both left and right brain learn through memory however each has its own unique way of learning where left brain learns through language, sequentially, at slower pace, through repetitions right brain learns through visual stimulation, using photographic memory, and at a very high speed.
So in this highly competitive world, can we let our latent potential go untapped, would developing only our left brain skills suffice, not really! Future requires an equally developed creative/imaginative aspect, high acumen of problem solving skills, dexterity at Social & Emotional skills, power to access your intuition & talent to see the bigger picture.
In fact in future, genius would not be defined by ones capacity to store information & facts but will be measured by ones capacity to quickly absorb, process and create new & well connected information. So you cannot let your child lose their inherent potential which can be unleashed with a little bit of effort such that they can excel to become leader in their own unique areas.
Can our right brain functions be developed at any point in time in life? Yes, however the most critical period, when one can make the biggest impact on right brain functions, is during early years when the brain is developing at an exponential speed. Stimuli provided during this phase has much larger impact on brain development compared to stimuli provided at later stages. Moreover during early years a child primarily learns through right brain functions so it easier to sharpen them during this phase.
